HOW YOU CAN ENHANCE YOUR CHANCES AT THE JOB INTERVIEW

Global economic recession is responsible for increased unemployment.  In order to survive this crisis many companies have to downsize their workforce to join the ever increased turn out of graduates in the labor market.  This situation in labor market now is so bad that people begin to fear whether there would be any end to it.  This is why it is advisable for you to take all the necessary precautions if you are invited for job interview.  Here are the tips you can consider

Carrying Out Research on the Companies Applying to

Make a list of all the companies you sent your cover letter and resume to for employment and carry out research on their websites, well in advance, to know their management structures, challenges and opportunities.  Outcome of this research will enable you arrange your experiences, and skills in such a way that would fit into their challenges and opportunities, which you are going to emphasize more during the interview.  Employers or interviewers would be interested in how they are going to derive value from hiring you.  Your ability to carefully and consciously analyze the correlation between your experiencers and skills, on one hand, and the company challenges, on the other hand, might stand you out as the best candidate for the job.

Revision of Cover Letter and Resume Sent for the Job

Another area that needs careful consideration is to review the documents sent for the job.  Eighty percent of your question are going to be drawn from the submitted documents; therefore if you study them well and you are able to answer questions drawn from them correctly you are over, fifty percent sure of having secured the employment.  However, there is no way you can do this if you don’t have confidence in yourself.  Adequate preparations like studying of cover letter and resume; rehearsal of possible questions by standing before a big mirror are part of confident building techniques that would enable you to be bold in talking.  This will also go a long way in considering you for employment.

Go to Bed early on the Interview Eve

Many job seekers ignore the importance of having a sound sleep prior to interview day only to found themselves performed poorly as a result absence of sound sleep.  Whereas early to bed would make you not only to have sound sleep but wake up with fresh mind and ready for the interview because you are going to use your brain therefore it is better you have a sound sleep so that you would be at alert for the interview.  Also, make sure you take breakfast because nobody can tell how long the exercise would go.  For example, experience has shown where job interviews are delayed due to unforeseeable circumstances beyond the control, of the organizers so your performances would not be adversely affected as a result of not taking any breakfast.

Prepare to Ask Questions

Having identified with their challenges as a result of your extensive research on their websites, there is no way you would not like to ask questions because of magnitude of your discovery that brought about the shortcomings. It would definitely lead to asking questions, though; experts have argued that interview techniques are 30/70 per cent ratio; that is 30 percent duration for the interviewer to ask question and the remaining 70% for the interviewees to respond.  This approach would make the whole exercise boring and disinteresting.  Experience has shown where interviewee cleverly turned the whole episode into interactive session thereby making the day memorable.  One of the interviewers later conferred with the interviewer that her performance at the interviewee made them changed their minds to give her the job.   They let realize further that before his turn they were dozing and sleeping but as she stepped in she was able to make the place lively with her story telling techniques and logical conclusion...  This is the practice now! If you are able to do this there is no doubt you will have good story to tell about getting job.

Follow Up Action

After the interview, you could send a mail or make a phone call to the interviewers thanking them for the opportunity giving you to come for the job interview. Reiterate your preparedness and determination to work with them.  This is a clever way of wooing them for the job.
